RALEIGH -- Fledgling Bonita Software has raised about $500,000 in venture capital for the launch of its ToGo software product.

ToGo is a Java-based personal information manager, or PIM, for the next generation of wireless "smart phones" that will include miniature keypads and screens. ToGo encompasses a variety of applications, including e-mail and a Web browser.

Participants in the first round of venture capital raised by the company included Renaissance Ventures of Richmond, Va.; Cordova Technology Partners of Atlanta; and individual investors.
