TEAM Herbert W. (Herb) Jackson, Managing Director, Public Markets Advisor & Principal Mr. Jackson is the founder of Renaissance Ventures, LLC, a special situations investor across multiple asset classes including mis-priced equity and debt securities and buyout situations in both public and private markets. Mr. Jackson is an experienced investor / advisor in numerous basic industry, financial, software and communications equipment businesses through Renaissance and prior entities. Mr. Jackson has 21 years experience directing both public and private equity investments. He has previously published buy-side institutional equity research, and he helped initiate business conversations between Summa Four, Inc. and Cisco Systems, which led to Summa’s acquisition by Cisco in 1998. Prior to founding Renaissance, he co-managed two successful hedge funds with Avanti Partners. Mr. Jackson has served as a Board Director or Board Observer of a number of privately held, mid-Atlantic companies. He was an active business advisor to a predecessor of Spike Broadband Systems, Inc. (Nashua, NH), now sold to REMEC, Inc. (NASDAQ: REMC), where he played a meaningful role in numerous syndicated financings. Mr. Jackson has been a Grantor Member of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED, Research Triangle Park, NC) and has served on the Board of Directors of AdvanTech, a business incubator sponsored by the State of Virginia’s Industrial Development Authority. Mr. Jackson earned his BS in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill. Beverly W. (Booty) Armstrong, Buyout Advisor & Principal Mr. Armstrong is Vice Chairman of CCA Industries, Inc., an active private equity and real estate investor based in Richmond, VA. CCA is well known for its 1986 leveraged buyout of AMF Bowling from Minstar, Inc. and its subsequent sale to Goldman Sachs for $1.37 billion in 1996. CCA’s holdings include the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Kiawah Island Resort in South Carolina, Pompanette Inc. and Bag Boy Company. Mr. Armstrong serves on the Boards of Directors of numerous non-profit organizations including The Community Foundation and Richmond Renaissance, and he is an active Member of the Capital Region Airport Commission.
